Vickie Austin is a woman on a mission, committed to helping people and their companies by offering coaching, training and consulting around the globe. In 2015 she joined The Rainmaker Companies team, contributing her expertise in professional services marketing to clients and colleagues who are equally committed to helping their clients flourish and grow.
A lifelong learner, Vickie loves to share her knowledge of marketing and strategic planning with clients who are up to big things. She’s a professional speaker and immediate past president of the National Speakers Association of Illinois. Vickie is also a writer—she currently writes for the First Illinois Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and she contributes monthly business book reviews for the Daily Herald Business Ledger. She’s also the author of the book Circles of Gold: Honoring Your Network for Business and Career Success.
A magna cum laude graduate of Arizona State University, Vickie received an executive master’s degree in international management (EMIM) from Thunderbird School of Global Management. Vickie and her husband Bill, an artist, live in the Chicago area and have two grown children, Kitty and Will, and a slightly neurotic terrier, Peanut Butter.
- Her dad was a professor of higher and adult education, and, as a kid, she moved all over the country. (She calls herself an “academia brat.”)
- Played the cello and guitar and is currently taking piano lessons.

- Writes songs, sings in a band, and proudly sang at the Grand Ole Opry (ok – on a tour of the Ryman Theater, but still…) and at Carnegie Hall (OK – it was on the loading dock, but still…)
