Rainmaker Announces Faculty for CEO Grow, a Growth-Focused Community for Managing Partners
Nashville, TN, August 29, 2018 — The Rainmaker CEO Grow Community™ is a new learning, networking, and relationship platform designed specifically for accounting firm managing partners and their unique leadership development needs. We are excited to announce four new adjunct faculty members for this program.
Carl served 13 years as COO and 16 years as CEO of Clifton Gunderson, as well as three years as Senior Executive Partner focusing on CPA firm acquisitions and consulting with CPA firms. Since retiring from CLA in 2012, Carl has been consulting with CPA firms on various practice management and strategic initiatives.
Carl has been recognized numerous times by Accounting Today as one of the Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting and is recognized by INSIDE Public Accounting as a Top 10 Most Recommended Consultant. He is a former board member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and chaired the AICPA National CPA Financial Literacy Commission for five years.
“I want to share my lessons learned, best practices, do’s and don’ts, and my successes and failures with the CEO Grow participants. My goal is to make our profession even better than it is already, and I believe assisting our leaders in being better leaders is a big part of that.”
Mr. Metzler has worked with hundreds of CPA firms and personally mentored some of the profession’s most respected national leaders. Jim has both created and used a wealth of tools for firms, but his greatest emphasis is on advanced leadership coaching of partners, emerging partners and other practice leaders.
Jim has been listed as one of the 100 Most Influential People in Accounting for 18 consecutive years by Accounting Today, named to the Winning is Everything Advisory Board Hall of Fame, received the On the Edge award from Leading Edge Alliance, named one of the Top 25 Thought Leaders by the CPA Practice Advisor for consecutive years, and recognized by the U.S. Small Business Administration. He is a frequent and recognized lecturer for the AICPA, State Societies and global CPA professional associations. Additionally, he has authored many articles on practice management as well as the book “How to Build a Million Dollar Technology Consulting Practice.”
“I am excited to be part of The Rainmaker CEO Grow program that provides training, peer-to-peer learning, tools, strategies, coaching, motivation and accountability to drive managing partners toward greater, more professionally satisfying results.”
Gary is one of the few CPA firm consultants with Managing Partner on his résumé. He led a top 200 CPA firm for over twenty years, growing it from a small local practice to a regional four-office firm. His experience goes deep, with personal firsthand knowledge of the challenges you face in your firm. Additionally, he has consulted with over 200 firms, bringing broader knowledge and best practices to every engagement.
Gary is a frequent speaker at professional conferences, including state societies, associations and the AICPA. His articles have been published in over 40 professional publications.
“Rainmaker has been helping leaders grow for more than a quarter century and I am looking forward to contributing to their unique community for firm executives.”
Ralph spent most of his time with a small regional Tampa practice, Pender Newkirk & Company CPAs, beginning as a staff accountant and working his way to leading the firm. He served for seven years as its managing partner. The firm was recognized as the 2011 Business of the Year in Tampa and won several Best Places to Work awards. Ralph’s final accomplishment was to expand the capabilities of the firm as well as opportunities for staff by negotiating and overseeing the merge of his firm with Warren Averett, a southeast-based Top 30 CPA firm. For the five subsequent years, he was Office Managing Member for Central Florida.
Since retiring in 2017, Ralph has facilitated sessions for both a large community organization in Central Florida and a large regional utility contractor. He served as an advisor-consultant to the Board of Directors of a regional distribution company, and currently serves on the Board of Trustees of a large hospital group and on the finance committee of a $4-billion Health System.
“The Rainmaker Companies has been involved with accounting firm success for 25 years and it is perfectly positioned to assemble the tools, team and experiences to bring training, peer-to-peer learning, strategies, coaching, and accountability to managing partners to address their issues and opportunities. I am excited about contributing to the success of the managing partners who participate in this program.”
